Meet the Coaches
Nick Garritano is entering his 16th season as the head coach of the CSN Coyotes baseball team. In his 15 seasons at CSN, Garritano has compiled a 595 - 258 record. In 2024, Nick led his club to a career high of 53 wins. His best finish to a season was in 2024 when the Coyotes went 53 – 12, winning the regular season SWAC title, Region XVIII tourney championship, Western District tournament championship and a trip to the NJCAA World Series in Grand Junction, CO. That 2024 group placed 5th nationally at the JUCO World Series. His clubs have been ranked as high as 2ndnationally (in – season) by NJCAA and Perfect Game publications. Before the 2021 season, his club was Pre – Season #1 in the country in multiple polls. In his 15 years at the helm, Garritano has seen 30 of his players drafted by MLB with 27 of those players signing professional contracts. A couple players have signed Undrafted free agent deals with MLB teams as well. CSN has sent 184 players on to continue their academic/athletic careers at NCAA Div. I, II, III or NAIA institutions in Nick’s tenure, averaging 12 players a year.
Nick has had the pleasure of being able to coach 1st Team All American, SWAC Pitcher of the Year and 1st round draft pick of the San Francisco Giants, Phil Bickford in 2015. In 2021, Nick coached 1stTeam Academic and 1st Team All – American, SWAC Player of the Year, Damiano Palmegiani. Damiano was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays. He has also coached multiple First team All – SWAC players including four SWAC Players of the Year in Morgan Stotts (2013), Justin Lutes (2017), Damiano Palmegiani (2021), Hunter Katschke (2023) and Brady Ballinger (2024). In 2025, CSN moved to the ACCAC and In this inaugural year in the new league, Chaz McNelis was named a 1st Team All – American and the ACCAC Player of the Year. Stotts was also named the national gold glove winner for his defensive play in 2013. In 2023 and 2024, Nicky Garritano won the National Gold Glove Award in back-to-back years. Nicky also was selected as the NJCAA D1 Defensive Player of the Year in 2024. Nick was named SWAC Coach of the year for the 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2023 and 2024 seasons, all years that his club won the SWAC regular season title and was named the Western District Coach of the Year in 2017 and 2024. In CSN’s first year in the ACCAC in 2025, Nick was named ACCAC Coach of the Year and his club won the ACCAC regular season title.
In the spring of 2024, Garritano earned his 500th victory at CSN and earned his 850th career win during his 26th year of being a head baseball coach. Garritano’s total career wins sit at 911; (595 - CSN) and (316 - GVHS) over a 27-year head coaching span. The 2025 season brought milestone win number 900 for his career as a head coach. The 2026 season should produce his 600th win at CSN as the head coach. Under Nick’s watch, the Coyotes have won the Regular Season SWAC and ACCAC championship seven times (2013, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2019,2023, 2024 and 2025), have won the Region XVIII Championship five years (2015, 2017, 2019,2021 and 2024) and advanced to the championship of the Western District Tournament 4 of those 5 years. In 2017 and 2024, Nick guided his clubs to the NJCAA World Series.
Henderson has been home to Garritano’s baseball coaching career. Before coming to CSN, Nick was the head baseball coach for state power Green Valley HS. In his tenure at Green Valley HS (1999 – 2010) he compiled an impressive 316 – 118 record. Under Garritano’s guidance, the Gators won Nevada State Championships in 2001 and 2003. The Gators also won 6 Regional Titles and appeared in the Nevada State tournament 7 out of his 12 years at the helm. Nick was voted Sunrise Region Coach of the Year in 2001 and 2003. Nick helped over 75 players move on to play college baseball and had 14 players drafted by MLB. In May 2015, Nick was inducted into the Southern Nevada Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame voted on by the HS baseball coaches in Southern Nevada.
Coach Bryan Gidge joined the College of Southern Nevada baseball staff in 2011, he has been at CSN since day 1 of the Garritano era. He will be entering his 16th season at CSN and has been with Coach Garritano since 2002. Bryan is in his 18th year teaching with the Clark County School District. Bryan received his Bachelors Degree in Fitness Management from UNLV and earned a Master Degree in Teaching from Grand Canyon University.
Coach Gidge is the Pitching Coach: As Coach Gidge puts it " I Coach the Athletes, the pitchers. Pitchers are who control the entire game. The Coyotes can only go as far as the pitching will take us." The Coyotes consistently have one of the top pitching staffs in the conference and is highly respected in the country. He has had 10 pitchers selected in the draft under his watch and many more go on to 4 year universities during his tenure at CSN.
Playing Experience: Bryan played two years at Yakima Valley CC in 1996-97 then transferred to UNLV for the 1998-99 seasons. He was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the 33rd round of the 1998 draft.
Trever Berg, a College of Southern Nevada (CSN) Baseball alumnus from the class of 2019, is entering his first year as an assistant coach for the Coyotes. In his role, Trever will coach the outfielders, assist with hitting and baserunning, and serve as the recruiting coordinator. He will also oversee advanced scouting reports on opponents.
A Henderson native, Trever returns to his community after spending the last two years as the pitching coach at Colorado Northwestern Community College, where he also contributed to day-to-day operations and prepared the team's advanced scouting reports.
Trever was a multi-sport athlete at Basic High School, excelling in tennis, basketball, and baseball. After high school, he began his collegiate baseball career at Colorado Northwestern before transferring back to CSN. As a key player for the Coyotes, Trever helped the team secure both the SWAC regular season title and the Region XVIII championship in 2019. He completed his collegiate playing career at the University of Texas Permian Basin (UTPB) in 2022.
Trever holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Coaching from UTPB and earned his Master's degree in Coaching from the University of Northern Colorado in 2024.

When sending payment through Venmo make sure the players name is in payment and please make sure at the bottom of the payment page it is turned to OFF.
