Meet the Coaches
Nick Garritano is entering his fifteenth season as the head coach of the College of Southern Nevada (CSN) Coyotes baseball team. Over his 14 seasons at CSN, Garritano has compiled an impressive 549-245 record. In 2024, he led the Coyotes to a career-high 53 wins, culminating in a 53-12 season. That year, the team won the SWAC regular-season title, the Region XVIII Tournament championship, the Western District championship, and earned a trip to the NJCAA World Series in Grand Junction, Colorado, where they finished 5th nationally. His teams have consistently been ranked among the top programs in the country, including being ranked as high as 2nd nationally by NJCAA and Perfect Game publications. Before the 2021 season, CSN was ranked Preseason No. 1 in multiple polls.
Throughout his 14 years at CSN, Garritano has seen 27 of his players drafted by MLB teams, with 25 signing professional contracts, while others have signed as undrafted free agents. Additionally, 169 of his players have gone on to continue their academic and athletic careers at NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA institutions, averaging 12 players per year.
Garritano has had the privilege of coaching several standout players, including Phil Bickford, a 1st Team All-American, SWAC Pitcher of the Year, and 1st-round draft pick of the San Francisco Giants in 2015. In 2021, he coached Damiano Palmegiani, a 1st Team Academic and 1st Team All-American, SWAC Player of the Year, who was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays. He has also coached multiple First Team All-SWAC players, including four SWAC Players of the Year: Morgan Stotts (2013), Justin Lutes (2017), Damiano Palmegiani (2021), Hunter Katschke (2023), and Brady Ballinger (2024). Notably, Stotts was named the national gold glove winner for his defensive play in 2013, and Nicky Garritano won the National Gold Glove Award in both 2023 and 2024, being selected as the NJCAA D1 Defensive Player of the Year in 2024. Garritano himself has been named SWAC Coach of the Year for seven seasons (2013, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2023, and 2024) and Western District Coach of the Year in 2017 and 2024.
In 2024, Garritano earned his 500th victory at CSN and his 850th career win as a head coach, bringing his total career wins to 865 (549 at CSN and 316 at Green Valley High School) over a 25-year head coaching career. In 2023, he celebrated his 800th career win, and the 2025 season could see him achieve his 900th career win. Under Garritano’s leadership, the Coyotes have won the SWAC regular-season championship seven times (2013, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2023, and 2024) and the Region XVIII championship five times (2015, 2017, 2019, 2021, and 2024). His teams have advanced to the championship game of the Western District Tournament in four of those five years and reached the NJCAA World Series in 2017 and 2024.
Garritano's coaching career began in Henderson, where he spent 12 years as the head baseball coach at Green Valley High School, compiling a 316-118 record. During his time at Green Valley, the Gators won two Nevada State Championships (2001, 2003), six Regional Titles, and appeared in the state tournament seven times. Garritano was named Sunrise Region Coach of the Year in 2001 and 2003. He also helped over 75 players continue their careers in college baseball and saw 14 of his players drafted by MLB. In May 2015, he was inducted into the Southern Nevada Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame.
Coach Bryan Gidge joined the College of Southern Nevada baseball staff in 2011, he has been at CSN since day 1 of the Garritano era. He will be entering his fifteenth season at CSN and has been with Coach Garritano since 2002. Bryan is in his 18th year teaching with the Clark County School District. Bryan received his Bachelors Degree in Fitness Management from UNLV and earned a Master Degree in Teaching from Grand Canyon University.
Coach Gidge is the Pitching Coach: As Coach Gidge puts it " I Coach the Athletes, the pitchers. Pitchers are who control the entire game. The Coyotes can only go as far as the pitching will take us." The Coyotes consistently have one of the top pitching staffs in the conference and is highly respected in the country. He has had 10 pitchers selected in the draft under his watch and many more go on to 4 year universities during his tenure at CSN.
Playing Experience: Bryan played two years at Yakima Valley CC in 1996-97 then transferred to UNLV for the 1998-99 seasons. He was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the 33rd round of the 1998 draft.
Trever Berg, a College of Southern Nevada (CSN) Baseball alumnus from the class of 2019, is entering his first year as an assistant coach for the Coyotes. In his role, Trever will coach the outfielders, assist with hitting and baserunning, and serve as the recruiting coordinator. He will also oversee advanced scouting reports on opponents.
A Henderson native, Trever returns to his community after spending the last two years as the pitching coach at Colorado Northwestern Community College, where he also contributed to day-to-day operations and prepared the team's advanced scouting reports.
Trever was a multi-sport athlete at Basic High School, excelling in tennis, basketball, and baseball. After high school, he began his collegiate baseball career at Colorado Northwestern before transferring back to CSN. As a key player for the Coyotes, Trever helped the team secure both the SWAC regular season title and the Region XVIII championship in 2019. He completed his collegiate playing career at the University of Texas Permian Basin (UTPB) in 2022.
Trever holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Coaching from UTPB and earned his Master's degree in Coaching from the University of Northern Colorado in 2024.
Born in Henderson, NV, on March 15, 1998, Trever is engaged to Ashtyn Bauerle. Together, they have a one-year-old long-haired dachshund named Willie. In his free time, Trever enjoys spending time with Ashtyn, golfing, and watching sports.

When sending payment through Venmo make sure the players name is in payment and please make sure at the bottom of the payment page it is turned to OFF.
